Hello Reader,
On Friday, files for issue #66 (July-Aug-Sept) were sent to the printer! Please subscribe, renew or update your mailing address before June 9 to be on the mailing list! The code keepgoing gives Can$10 off subscriptions and renewals.
And, related to keeping on going, I've built the open call submission forms for issue #67 (Oct-Nov-Dec)! The submission deadline is June 30. Here are the themes:
Stencils in Craft, Art & Design
Submit artwork (craft, art, graphic design, typography) and other creative projects that use stencils in some way.
Black & White
Share your black & white artwork, projects and designs, where the lack of colour is a specific design feature.
Idea Pitches
If you have an article idea to pitch related to the themes of stencils, black & white and/or contrasts, please submit it by this Friday—I'm assigning content for the next issue asap! A pitch is simply a well-written paragraph or two describing your article concept with a few relevant images or website links.
Reader submissions give UPPERCASE so much personality; I am always grateful to receive them. And, as you can see in each issue, I fit in as many as I possibly can!
Thank you, always.
Subscribers keep this magazine going! Subscribe or renew today to show your support of independent publishing.

LOGISTICS UPDATES
Potential Canada Post Strike: Another labour disruption is possible. However, due to the previous strike in Nov/Dec 2024, we have many other options for dispatching online orders, particularly to urban centres. Please don't use a P.O. Box for Canadian-destined shipments. We have a few weeks before I need to use Canada Post to mail the Canadians' subscriptions, so cross your fingers. I will keep Canadian subscribers informed as necessary. Subscribers outside of Canada are not affected by a Canada Post strike.
Australia / New Zealand: Subscriptions & Renewals to Australia and New Zealand can only start with the next, unreleased issue, #66, which I can send in bulk via international publications mail in late June when it is released. Back issue bundles and Encyclopedia bundles are not available to Australia and New Zealand. Overseas: Customs are at the recipient country's discretion and are the purchaser's responsibility.
Build your own Encyclopedia Book Bundle and save 20%
Save 20% off when you purchase three or more in-stock Encyclopedias. This offer excludes not-yet-released pre-orders Feed Sacks (at the printer, estimated release in July) and Glue (design in progress.) North American addresses only.
Low inventory alert!
Only 31 copies of issue #50 (July-Aug-Sept 2021) remain in my online shop. This issue explores the intersection of art and science, as well as rubber stamps and related printmaking concepts: relief (both in terms of texture and emotion), making good impressions and the satisfaction (and necessity) of repetition.
Save 20% off back issues when you purchase 3 or more.

Feed Sacks
The Colourful History of a Frugal Fabric
Author Linzee Kull McCray explores the history of the humble feed sack, from a plain burlap or cotton sack to exuberantly patterned and colourful bags that thrifty housewives repurposed into frocks, aprons and quilts in the first half of the 20th century. Extensive imagery and reproductions of these fabrics create an inspiring sourcebook of pattern and colour—and offer a welcome visit to a slower-paced way of life. Originally published in 2016.

This week in the UPPERCASE Circle
Membership for The UPPERCASE Circle is included in a paid print subscription. There are daily Creative Prompts, a supportive community and plenty of posts and links to creative inspiration, book recommendations and more. Members can also enjoy a free 3-day preview of The UPPERCASE Archive.
The UPPERCASE Archive & re:issue
re:issue collects articles from past issues and brings them back to our attention in a new way. In June, we examine how we express ourselves through handwriting, lettering, concrete poetry, and calligraphic graffiti. We'll also look at the gestures of our hands in more abstract ways—how we affect ink and paint by mixing our swirling thoughts into artistic expression.
The UPPERCASE Archive is a growing resource of out-of-print UPPERCASE magazine back issues presented as digital flip-through editions. With over 50 out-of-print issues, there’s an incredible abundance of inspiration available in this digital UPPERCASE library. The first 32 issues of the magazine are ready now.
Join the Archive & re:issue!
$16 MONTHLY / $120 ANNUALLY (save $72)
