Fresh ink

Hello Reader,

The Feed Sacks reprint is done, shipped and delivered (at least to me, here in Calgary!) All Feed Sacks books preordered before June 25 have been mailed directly from the printer. More recent orders will be shipped from my fulfillment partner shortly.

It's nice to have this beautiful book back in stock! Its themes—frugality, upcycling, and repurposing—are as important as ever. And the pattern designs? With 850 fabric swatches, there is an abundance of inspiration for surface pattern designers and vintage enthusiasts!

Author Linzee Kull McCray and I will be hosting an online talk about feed sacks; I'll share the date and registration details in a future newsletter.

The newest issue #66 (July-Aug-Sept) is a nice pairing with Feed Sacks. (That hue is apparently my go-to yellow!)

Flip through the new issue on my website.

As ever, subscribers keep UPPERCASE going—thus the code 'keepgoing' gives you $10 (Canadian dollars) off a subscription or renewal in thanks.

The open calls for issue #67 (Stencils, Black & White) close today, July 8, at 5:00 p.m. MDT. The deadline won't be extended.

Take care,

GLUE

The profiles are being proofread, and I'm making final design refinements and going through the 100s of images for prepress adjustments.

This book will go to print in August and will be released in September.

The UPPERCASE Archive & re:issue

re:issue collects articles from my archive of back issues and republishes them online. It's a great way to access ideas from old issues—plus you get access to the digital archive (I've got all issues from #1 through #37 posted so far!)

Lines can be straight, or they can squiggle. They can start and end, or go on for infinity.

This month, I will be sharing content from past issues that is inspired directly or indirectly by lines, stripes, ledgers, horizons, linotype, rulers, alignment and throughlines.

The UPPERCASE Archive is a growing resource of out-of-print UPPERCASE magazine back issues presented as digital flip-through editions. With over 50 out-of-print issues, there’s an incredible abundance of inspiration available in this digital UPPERCASE library. The first 37 issues are available, with more added weekly.
