I've always believed that inspiration is found both in diving deep into what we love, but also when we are willing to look beyond our usual frame of reference.
Looking to other mediums, new genres of art, different crafts, and others' techniques creates serendipity, makes unexpected connections and provides tangents to discover... and that's where originality lives.
Creativity exists in all of us, but sometimes we need the encouragement of seeing what other people are creating to realize that we also have that ability.
I think these are reasons why the Encyclopedia of Inspiration has found a dedicated readership who collect each volume. Despite being profiles of other artists, they help you discover yourself.

Today, I am excited to share the big reveal for Glue, Volume G in the UPPERCASE Encyclopedia of Inspiration!
You might be thinking, "Wait, didn't you already have a cover?"
Sort of! When I announce a book in this series, I create a mockup to help promote the project. But it isn't until after I've designed all 448 pages that I make my final decisions for the front cover, dust jackets and belly band.
That way, the design reflects the content and mood of what's inside.
Here are the final designs for the soft cover, dust jackets and belly bands...

These make me so happy! I love the removable and refoldable dust jackets on this series. A pat on the back to me from over ten years ago for coming up with something that helps set this series apart and keeps me interested and excited, both as a publisher and a graphic designer.
There are 46 profiles of artists who use collage and assemblage in beautiful, interesting and heartfelt ways. I'll share more about what's inside the book once proofing is completed.
FRONT COVER: JULIE LIGER-BELAIR & PAIGE HIGGINBOTHAM SPINE: JULIE LIGER-BELAIR & JANIEN PRUMMEL BACK COVER: PAIGE HIGGINBOTHAM & STEVE SNIDER
Here's the soft cover book spine (this is what's underneath the dust jacket).
These encyclopedias are printed in Canada on 100% post-consumer recycled paper. They're expensive to make, which is reflected in the cover price of $65 CAD / $50 USD. And at 448 pages (over an inch thick), they're heavy, thus the postage costs.
The only way these books come into existence is because of the enthusiastic people who support the concept and are willing to put their trust in me, many months to a year before the book becomes a physical reality.
