Hello Reader,
The photos above are "proof" of all my creative efforts over the last few months. Issue 67 printer proofs are okay to print, and so are the proofs for the Glue book.
I signed off on both projects last week, and now I'm taking time away, in another province, visiting my parents.
Here's an example of my mom's creativity (she's a prolific quilter):
And my dad restores antique cars. Here's a funny "installation" he made in the backyard:
Now, back to business for a moment:
Mailing lists for both projects will be finished up when I'm back home next week. Make your subscription address change, or purchase a subscriptions or renewal for the next issue, #67 (Oct-Nov-Dec issue). This newsletter is sent to a general list—it is not segmented based on any purchases you may have made in my shop. You can use your email address to log in to my webshop to view your past purchases.

USA SHIPPING UPDATE
Americans, please read this!!!!
Since my message last week, I have received concerning details about trump's removal of de minimis exemptions and how this will affect US-destined orders.
The upcoming removal of the de minimis exemption on August 29 will affect sending orders across the border from Canada to the USA via my fulfillment warehouse (in-stock books and magazines). Even though printed information materials are exempt from trump's (illegal) tariffs and my Canadian-made print materials are also compliant with CUSMA (Canada-US-Mexico Trade Agreement).
Per my fulfillment partner: "For shipments that usually would go through the de-minimis clearance, shipments will now need formal clearance per package, which means that there are increased costs like brokerage on each package." I am waiting to hear more about this, but it means that every package destined to the USA and sent from my fulfillment warehouse—even if the items inside are not subject to tariffs—would still be charged a brokerage fee to get it across the border.
A per-package additional fee on shipments sent to the USA would affect American customers. I do not know if international orders will be affected yet, since they have traditionally been routed through the USA as well.
I do not intend to "absorb" any costs associated with these new rules. Once I know the actual costs, I will be adding them to US-destined product prices.
I am uncertain whether the procedure we use to mail magazine subscriptions and book preorders directly from the printer via USPS media mail will be impacted by the removal of de minimis. With a new issue and the Glue book both mailing in September, I'm about to find out.
❤️ The degradation of democracy, science, climate and other aspects of global health and safety are my greatest concern. I always want to do the right thing—ethically, morally, environmentally—and also to ensure that my business can sustain itself while supporting my family, and, in turn, my humanitarian and climate pledges.
These changes to the fundamentals of how my business functions for the majority of my customers (70% of my business is from the USA) will have an impact, that is for certain.
I will hold steady to my values and make decisions centred on these fundamentals first and foremost. I will continue to communicate with you about any changes or pricing adjustments that might be required.
Thank you
❤️
