Submit your surface pattern design work to be featured in an upcoming Pattern Journal or in UPPERCASE magazine. There's a new batch of open calls: Artist Retreats & Residencies, Texture and The Creative Self.

*I've shared nearly every Pattern Journal submission received in 2025. Many folks submitted multiple times; I often select only one that best suits whatever edition I'm curating. A few submissions were shared in All About YOU or in print instead. On rare occasions, a submission is not published because the artwork may be inappropriate subject matter for UPPERCASE, unrelated to surface design, or the file provided may not be of adequate quality for posting.

New Miss Moresby fabric range "Eklektik"
by Sarah Emily Rowe

Introducing Miss Moresby's 4th fabric range, named EKLEKTIK. Born of my love for mixing up patterns, textures and colours, my newest range celebrates whims and flights of fancy, which is really how I operate in the studio daily. Focusing on summer lightness and an air of freedom are 10 new designs. Instagram / Website

Bird Traveler
by Tresa Meyer-Clark

The “ Bird Traveler” is a digital artwork created in Illustrator for surface patterns. It has a Geometric feel, with birds and flowers, inspired by a photo from my first trip abroad to my father’s hometown, Hamburg, Germany. A 1970s colour palette inspiration. Instagram / Website

Retro Jello
by Valerie Hamill

These fruit-and-jello mould patterns were inspired by my neighbourhood grocery store, which seems stuck in time. Instagram / Website

Hummingbird Houses
by Tina Schofield

These sweet little hummingbirds emerge from their winter rest from their tiny birdhouses, ready for the flowers to bloom and bathe their little feathers in the warm rays of the sun! Instagram / Website

Fleur Crawford

I’m Fleur Crawford, the creative force behind Hufton Studio, based in Auckland, New Zealand. With over two decades in design, I’ve woven my love for textiles, wallpaper, and surface pattern design into a career that blends whimsy with hand-drawn elegance. My artistic journey began with a Fine Arts Degree in printmaking, leading me into children's wear design before transitioning into textiles. Since 2019, as I raised my family, my backyard studio has become my sanctuary—a peaceful space where creativity flows freely, and I bring my ideas to life. Inspired by the beauty of everyday moments, I craft patterns that are organic, playful, and versatile—designed to evoke a sense of joy and calm. My workspace is a tapestry of colour and inspiration, filled with wallpaper samples, fabrics, sketches, and stacks of design books that reflect my love for pattern and design. It’s here, amidst the chaos of motherhood and the rhythm of creativity, that I find my true artistic voice. Instagram / Website

Fleur is also featured in UPPERCASE #65 from earlier this year. That issue contains the Surface Pattern Design Guide from earlier this year. This issue is on track to sell through the entire print run, so don't miss it!

Issue #68

The Jan-Feb-March 2026 edition is about the elements of creativity.
