Hey Reader,,
If you tried to shop on my website for the past day or so, Shopify had a major glitch that prevented (mostly) American customers from completing their purchases. As of early this morning, the problem has been resolved.
I can assure you that UPPERCASE magazines and books can still be shipped to the USA—free of tariffs, too, since books and magazines are still exempt despite Trump's latest tariff threats.
Meanwhile, another issue is on press and the Quilted book is nearing completion. (Quilted will be finished with bindery early next week and then the dust jackets and bellybands will be hand-applied. Pre-orders will ship in March.)
Use the code keepgoing for CA$10 off on renewals and subscriptions.
Thank you!

Quilted If you're shopping from the USA, the price will be converted to USD and includes a small brokerage fee—even though books are exempt from tariffs, they still have to go through a brokerage to cross the border. Overseas customers will be able to purchase Quilted when the book is available in March, and later through my UK distributor. Click here to see inside!

Turning Art Into Food by Julia Barry
I'm an illustrator and designer on a mission to use my art for good in the world. I recently created hand-illustrated art with the phrase "Love is Our Greatest Form of Power," and am donating $1 for every free download, and 100% of proceeds for all art prints and greeting cards purchased with this art, to VEAP.org. VEAP is a food pantry in the Twin Cities, currently focused on getting free food to people who don't feel safe leaving their homes. Please join me in turning my art into meals for Minneapolis families! Learn more and get involved. Instagram / Website

Texture: where weaving and abstract painting meet by Tristesse Seeliger
I think texture really draws a person in to look closer at the artwork. This body of work is presented as paintings, so the woven canvas is a surprise on closer inspection. The canvas might look painted from a distance, and then there is a realization that the work is both a woven and a painted artwork. I think the delight comes when the brain is trying to figure that out. There are two tracks of experimentation with this work. One is that I paint with the grid of the textile canvas, and the other is using the paint to draw out a gesture that works against the grid. I have been asking myself how I can intersect abstract painting with weaving in an interesting way. The other reason that this exploration is so appealing to me is that mixing colour as a weaver is very different from mixing color as a painter. The intersections of the warp and the weft create almost a pixilated colour mix, an optical mix, whereas colour in paint form is mixed before it hits the canvas. Both of these methods require the viewer to see differently. These are a few ideas being explored in this series. Instagram / Website

The Ink & The Stitch by Sivan Baron
My work combines traditional linocut printmaking with hand embroidery. I begin by carving and printing linocut images by hand, focusing on graphic shapes, organic forms, and strong compositions. After printing, I embroider directly onto the paper, adding color, texture, and dimensional detail. This process brings together the bold marks of carving with the softness and intimacy of stitching, creating a tactile contrast between ink and thread. The embroidery allows me to slow down further and respond intuitively to each print, making every piece slightly unique. This body of work explores craft, patience, and materiality, celebrating handmade processes and the quiet dialogue between printmaking and textile techniques. Instagram / Website
