Typography is such a fun element to use in collages, especially big bold letters and numbers. In my latest Skillshare class, Postcard Studio: Monochromatic Stripes and Type, we explore working with strips of collage papers in dark and light tones of the same colour, and then mix in typography as a design element. It’s easy to find typographic collage materials if you look around you, old calendars, greeting cards, magazines, newspaper, old book covers, sheet music, etc. It’s a very accessible project, no fancy materials required, you could grab a magazine and an old cereal box and make this postcard, seriously! Try it! Instagram / Skillshare / Website
Hand-lettered greeting cards by Charla Pettingill
When designing greeting cards, I've been increasingly compelled to explore hand lettering (as opposed to fonts). To me, hand lettering should be imperfect, embracing some of the idiosyncrasies of your handwriting. I enjoy combining hand lettering with illustration, as it becomes an important, identifiable component of your style. Instagram / Website
Collages by Doreen Carscadden
I'm a mixed media artist with a strong focus on collage. I love working with old book pages and combining random images and words to make interesting compositions. I also love making my own collage paper with watercolour and inks. UPPERCASE magazine is an endless source of inspiration! Instagram
