All About YOU

Hello Reader,

UPPERCASE features magazine subscriber studios within its printed pages and in our weekly newsletters like All About YOU. Share your workspace, studio or corner of the dining room... wherever it is that you create. Bonus points if you include images of UPPERCASE magazine in your space!

I'm looking to feature 2-3 studios for UPPERCASE issue #72 (Jan-Feb-March 2027). Get your submissions in by Monday, October 26, to be considered for this next issue. "Fragile, delicate, transparency, glass" are some of the themes I'm particularly looking for, but any and all subscriber studios are welcome!

Submission form: https://tally.so/r/wMEVEY

The current issue is #71, Oct-Nov-December.

Hand sewn embroideries on canvas
by Jean Rill-Alberto

My work is a compilation of many concepts and mediums and my stitch work is one of my most favorite. I create my pieces with what inspires me at that moment. It may be an abstract, field of flowers, a landscape or even my version of an astrological sign design. All of these 5 works have been hand sewn directly onto canvas. I stitch, weave, paint and design everyday in my studio, completing several different projects at once and am always excited to start something new. It is a healing journey for me and my form of meditation. It lifts my soul, opens my heart and brings me to a place of solace. Instagram / Website

Tea Towel Designs
by Pat Scheurich

I’ve been searching for a way to turn my work from over the years into something meaningful and easy to share—both as keepsakes and as gifts. I landed on tea towels as the perfect solution: they’re practical, fun, and make great presents. Using Spoonflower as the printer also makes it simple to produce them one at a time. Family Ties: Reframing Memory
by Jennifer Love

Family photo albums are inevitably replete with happy smiles and joyful remembrances. Yet photography is not a passive medium. Can a photographic image reinforce or reshape our closest connections?

I’ve been exploring familial bonds through the medium of non-traditional printmaking—monoprinting on a gel plate combined with image transfers. This process lives in the imperfect world between discipline and spontaneity. The gel plate allows for immediacy and imperfection. Prints carry traces of the hand, the plate and the accident, mirroring the sometimes complex relationships forged while engaged in the business of growing up.

My techniques with the gel plate expanded considerably with this body of work —experimenting with reverse painting, charcoal drawings, sandpaper, water droplets, cutting up prints and reconfiguring with collage. Instagram / Website
