A few more steps...

Dear Reader,

I made it! Another edition of UPPERCASE magazine has been designed. Here's the tiniest possible preview of what's inside:

Many of you have written in to say how much you've enjoyed seeing more of the design process, thank you for your encouragement.

Here's the full opening spread from the Paperweights article by Kerrie More. It's an extensive 10-page article with various makers and collectors.

Here's one of my favourite spreads; an Annotated article by Emily Joyce featuring Jonathan Michael Ray who rescues old stained glass: “Collecting is at the heart of my practice. Objects, materials, ideas, process, words. This is my world-building; a complex and vague amalgamation of everything that helps me question and understand existence.”

The Abecedary, written by Lydie Raschka, is always fun to design!

Claire Dibble has a beautifully photographed and written profile about Maki Teshima:

I suspect that most of my American newsletter readers have other things on their minds today (go vote!), so I will save the big cover reveal for another week.

As always, UPPERCASE magazine is full of well-written articles and great imagery. I've only shown you 8 of its 132 pages! Other than mentions of UPPERCASE's books and digital archive, there are no ads or sponsorships in my magazine.

For everyone who submitted to the open calls, thank you! Once the files are done, I will be letting everyone know about the status of their submissions.

There's another round of proofing today and then final files will be sent to the printer tomorrow.

Please subscribe* or renew*. (And please read my notice below.)

Important Subscription Shipping Pricing Notice:

Currently, postage costs are included in the price of a subscription. When a new issue is sent en masse directly from the printer into the postal system, the per-issue mailing costs are reasonable. However, if a reader subscribes or renews after a particular issue has been mailed, the first issue has to be dispatched from a fulfillment warehouse as an individual parcel, for which there is a pick & pack charge and parcel shipping rates. I have been absorbing rising fulfillment and shipping costs for a long while on these orders and it is not prudent for me to continue to do so. (For example, shipping a single magazine from the warehouse in Toronto to a new reader in BC costs 12 times more than it would to mail it from the printer in Winnipeg to a reader in BC.)

Starting November 10, for subscriptions including issues that are available to ship immediately from the warehouse, shipping charges will be added to the order at checkout and calculated based on the weight of the package and its destination.

For subscriptions starting with future issues (such as #72 Jan-Feb-Mar) that will be mailed from my printer, the subscription price remains the same and there will be no added shipping fees.

This will start on November 10 and it will be clearly explained on my website. Thank you for your understanding.

The code creativepath gives CA$12 off subscriptions and renewals.
